Sandra S. "Gagi" Whitaker

April 20, 1942 - April 5, 2017

Sandra S. Whitaker “Gagi”, 74 of Ashland, passed into peace Wednesday April 5, 2017 at Hospice Care Center. She was born April 20, 1942 in Pittsburg, PA the daughter of the late James E. and Sarah Ethel Slone Dixon. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a beloved son, Stephen M. Whitaker and a brother, Ed Stanley. She was a retired Administrative Assistant for the State of Kentucky, a KY Colonel, traveled extensively overseas and was of the Christian Faith. She is survived by her loving husband, John Maynard Whitaker, Jr.; a son, James E. Whitaker (Rema) of Greenup, KY; a special granddaughter, Erica Whitaker (Chris) of Morgantown, WV and one other grandson; three great grandchildren, Bowie, Wiley and Delilah; special niece, Dr. Brooke Stanley of South Carolina; a sister-in-law, Linda Stanley of Mt. Vernon, OH; and special friends, Roseann Sloas and Ramona Stephens both of Greenup, KY. Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 PM Monday April 10, 2017 at Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Carl R. Hupp officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until service time Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Community Hospice 1480 Carter Ave. Ashland, KY 411014.
