Max Dunaway

Max Dunaway, 79, of Ashland, KY died Thursday October 27, 2016, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital. He was born April 19, 1937, in Martin, KY the son of the late Roy and Ethel Mae Blankenship Dunaway. He was a retired chief clerk for CSX Railroad and a U. S. Air Force veteran. He was a former member of the Morehead Masonic Lodge #654 where he was a 32nd degree mason, the El Hasa Shrine, a member of the Moose Lodge, Eagles Club, Elks Lodge, American Legion Post 76 and Morehead American Legion. Max was an excellent bowler and toured the country during his time of service in the Air Force, was an avid sports fan, a huge Kentucky Wildcat fan and Cincinnati Reds fan. He had a great sense of humor, quick wit, never met a stranger and had great empathy for the less fortunate. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a brother, Roy E. “Gene” Dunaway. Survivors include, two daughters he loved dearly and were his pride and joy, Michelle S. Dunaway of Boca Raton, FL and Stephanie L. Dunaway of Ashland, KY, one brother Mike Dunaway of Ashland, KY, two nephews, Sean Dunaway of Russell, KY and Stan Stamper of Clearfield, KY, one niece, Amy Sarratt of Burlington, NC and brother and sister in law, John Vernon and Gail Stamper of Clearfield, KY. Graveside services will be conducted 12:00 PM Monday October 31, 2016 at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens by Tony Allen, minister. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM till 5:00 PM Sunday at Miller Funeral Home. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Kenova American Legion Post 93. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to, Ashland Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 2061 Ashland, KY 41105 or Shriners Children Hospital, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr. Tampa, FL 33607.
