Lewis Edward Mutters, 103, of Lexington formerly of Ashland passed away Tuesday August 1, 2017 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. He was born November 23, 1913 in Ashland the son of the late John Dixion Mutters and the late Ada Agusta Leslie Mutters Gilley. He was a retired Ashland Chief of Police, a 1933 graduate of Ashland High School, a member of Victory Baptist Church in Lexington and a former member of First Baptist Church in Ashland. He was also a 33rd Degree Past Master Mason at the Poage Masonic Lodge 325 F & AM and a WWII Marine Corps Veteran serving in the Pacific Theatre. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Colley Mutters. He is survived by one son, John Mutters (Paulanna Bowling) of Lexington; and two granddaughters, Rachel Katherine Mutters of Denver, CO and Anna Leslie Mutters of Lexington. Graveside services and burial will be held 2:15 PM Saturday August 5, 2017 at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens with Dr. Isaac Nicholson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Saturday at Miller Funeral Home.
