James Eugene Johnson 89 of Ashland KY, died Thursday February 13, 2014 at the Hospice Care Center. He was born December 1, 1924 in Orr KY, the son of the late William Jack and Martha Francis Boggs Johnson. He was a 30 year employee of the Parsons family, at the department store, Henry Clay Hotel and manager of the Henry Clay Motel. He was a WWII Army veteran, serving in the European Theater with the 251 Engineer Combat Battalion. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Johnson enjoyed camping, carpentry, singing and playing his guitar to bluegrass and gospel music.He loved his dog Jack AKA Killer. He loved socializing and his greatest joy was meeting people and making friends. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two sons Donald Gene Johnson and Stanley Dean “Chico” Johnson. Survivors include three daughters Gloriss Ann Foster of Monterey CA, Connie Gail Adams and Tammie Kaye (Jerry) Witzke both of Ashland KY, two sons James Eugene (Jennifer) Johnson Jr. and William Jack Johnson both of Ashland KY, eleven grandchildren Brigette Brown, Amber Ferguson, Adam Cole Johnson, Matthew Cannoy, Marcus Adams, Jessica Powell, James Adams, Randy McWain, Daniel Adams, Jada Johnson and Jenna Johnson and eleven great grandchildren, special friend Ann Paul of Westwood KY and caregiver and longtime friend Anna Lou Jordan of Ashland KY. Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 PM Monday February 17, 2014 at Miller Funeral Home by Rev. Stan Williams. Burial will follow at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery NE with military honors provided by the Kenova American Legion Post 93. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM till 4:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
