Bernadine Vickers Howes Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Bernadine Vickers Howes 83 of Ashland, Kentucky, passed away Monday, December 27, 2021 in Woodland Oaks Health Care Facility, where she was under the care of both Woodland Oaks and Community Hospice. She was born April 06, 1938 in Ashland, Kentucky, to the late Ernest Johnson Sr and Revilla “Dolly” Vickers of Catlettsburg, Kentucky. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald “Don “Wayne Howes on November 01,2021 and a son, Kevin Lynn Howes on October 23, 2021 and four half-brothers, Ernest Johnson Jr, Jack Dempsey Johnson, Robert Gene Johnson, Don Franklin Johnson Sr, all of Catlettsburg, Kentucky. Bernadine and Don were married for 61 years. Bernadine & Don married on March 18, 1960 in Flatwoods, Kentucky. Bernadine was a 1956 graduate of Thomas R. Brown High School in Catlettsburg, Kentucky “Home of the Wildcats. She attended Centenary United Methodist Church in Ashland, Kentucky. She is survived by three sons, Timothy “Tim” Wayne and his wife Debbie Howes of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, Jerry Lee Howes of Coeburn, Virginia, John Alan and his wife Brandy Howes of Minford, Ohio, four grandchildren, Amber Dawn Howes, Matthew Wayne Howes, Zoe Elise Howes, Skylar Elisa Howes, six great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Bernadine was not just a mother but a friend to all her sons. From the mid-1970s to the early 1980s she enjoyed talking on her CB Radio especially to Coal Truck Drivers. She enjoyed playing Bingo. She had a loving caring heart!! And will truly be missed!! Funeral services for Bernadine will be held Noon Friday, December 31, 2021 at Miller Funeral Home with Pastor John Carwell officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to Noon Friday at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland. Burial will follow services in Rude Cemetery in Flatwoods.
