September 27, 1949 - May 10, 2014
Becky “Apple Gran” Curtis Becky Curtis, 64, passed on at her home on May 10, 2014. Born on September 27, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Curtis Keeton, Ada Roe Scott and her stepfather, Robert Scott. She is survived by her husband, Danny Curtis of Ashland, her son, Drew Curtis of Ashland, and her daughter, Courtney Whitaker and husband Mike, of Woodstock, Georgia. She is also survived by her sister, Jeannie Damron Simmons, also of Woodstock, Georgia, and her two adoring grandchildren, Peyton "Cash" and Lorelei Whitaker, from whom she became lovingly known as Apple Gran. She also leaves behind a close-knit group of lifelong friends, who’ve always been there for each other. Becky was a dental hygienist at Poindexter, Crider and Thomas, prior to beginning her 24 years as a second mother to thousands of children as the school secretary at Hager Elementary. The countless lives she touched as she offered an encouraging word, a bandage for a scrape, and her timeless smile will never forget “Mrs. Curtis.” Becky was a faithful parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church, and was very active in her prayer group. She loved football and the perfect game-time snack. She enjoyed shopping, and her taste in decorating was immaculate. She had a knack for the details, and tookdelight in planning life’s great moments, big and small. From family vacations to Thanksgiving Dinners to an evening with family and friends, few could match Becky’s talent as a hostess. Her passion for the perfect presentation gave expression to the beauty that filled her heart and soul. Becky truly looked for the beauty in everything, while those whose lives she touched clearly saw it in her heart, her soul, and on her table. Becky leaves a legacy of love, of friendship, of devotion and faith. Her flair for presentation added that perfect touch to every occasion, and is nevermore evident than in the quiet strength, graceful beauty, and unending devotion she displayed; the presentation of a family loved unconditionally, friendships shared for a lifetime, and mostly, of a life well lived. . Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday May 13, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church by Rev. John Noe. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM till service time Tuesday at the church.
