Virginia Joy Liltteral

Virginia “Joy” Melvin Litteral, 85 of Wurtland, Ky left her earthly home on Sept 06, 2026 at her residence following a stroke. She was met at the golden gates by her belated husband Robert "Bobby Gene" Litteral, Sr that she spent 52 loving years earthside with & her belated son Robert "Eugene" Litteral, Jr. She is the daughter of the late Cermilus & Clytie Melvin. Joy was an advent Christian and a homemaker. She spent her days here on earth raising her children, showing them how to be good humans; she prided herself in how well she took care of her family. Joys prayers where often answered especially for protection over her loved ones. It was a pleasure to her family to hear her nightly prayers and give praise to God. Joy never let anyone leave her house with an empty stomach; she was famous for her gravy & biscuits, also her peanut butter fudge. Joy enjoyed canning in the summer, along with camping with her family. She also spent time making quilts and sowing with her sisters. Zella , Betty and she spent many hours together making quilts for the family, now one of their prized possessions. Joy was also a member of the “TOPS” in Flatwoods, Ky. She enjoyed traveling with their club & her church family. Leaving behind to mourn her loss for the rest of their days here on earth include five generations of children. She departed this world with two daughters, Doretha (Erine) Simpkins & Debbie Wiley and one son Tony Litteral. Her third generation she had 3 grandsons Robert "Bobby" Litteral, III, Maxwell Wiley, Timothy Wiley, and 3 granddaughters Kayla Joy Simpkins, Tina Wiley Miller and Jamie (Brandon) Gray. These grandchildren have blessed her with 4 great granddaughters Christina (William) Miller Carver, Summer Wiley, Caydance Gray, Jeri Lynn Gray & 3 great grandsons Christian (Rachel) Miller, Shannon Wiley & Dustin Wiley. She enjoyed the excitement of having her 5th generation born, she got to meet and make memories with; she had 3 great, great grandsons Xavier Wiley, Bucky Carver & Shannon Wiley Jr. and 2 great, great granddaughters Willow Carver & Reverie Miller. Joy adopted many as her own when they came to her house; she loved & treated everyone like they were hers. Outside of the children she had she left behind 2 beloved sisters that she thought the world of Elizebeth Witten Davis & Zella Penix. She had 2 brothers; Gerald David Melvin & Jesse Melvin & 3 sisters; Ruth Russell, Betty Roar and Minnie Potter greeting her once she departed this world & made it to Heaven. She has an abundance of nieces, nephews, & extended family that are left to mourn her great loss. Joy was full of life & had a smile that would light up the darkest days. She had a soft tender voice & her words were always spoken with love & care. Joy prayed her way through life & would remind you when you told her how strong she was that it was just because of God's grace and mercy. She encouraged everyone she encountered to have a relationship with God & to know him on a personal level. Funeral services for Joy will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, September 10, 2026 at Wurtland Church of God with Pastor Chester Keathley and Brother Mel Leonhart officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to service time at 1:00 pm Thursday at the church. Burial will follow service in Melvin Cemetery. Online condolences may be offered at www.mfhfuneralhome.com.
