Ray J. Collier

Ray J. Collier, 82, of W-Hollow, Greenup went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday December 12, 2024. Ray was born March 18, 1942 at Load, Ky. to Calloway and Hazel Morris Collier. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Flora Reed Collier; his youngest son David Collier; five brothers, Paul Collier, Calvin Collier, Henderson Collier, Ronnie Reed, and Michael Sampson; six sisters, Mildred Collier, Lola Collier, Leona Noxsel, Beatrice Coriell, Joyce Krajewski, and Carol Collier. He was also preceded in death by several very special aunts, uncles, and cousins. Ray is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, June Kitchen Collier; a son, Tim Collier (Yvonne) of Knoxville, TN; a daughter, Cindy Collier of Greenup; two brothers, Carl Collier of South Webster, OH and Mark Collier of Ashland, KY; three sisters, Lois Potter of South Shore, KY, Freda Taylor of Lake Havasu City, AZ, and Tunecia Collier of Florida; Two grandsons, Zachary Collier of Hilo, HI and Carter Collier of Knoxville; and several special cousins, nieces, and nephews. Ray was a devout Christian who was saved and baptized at Hampshire Enterprise Baptist Church at Brushy in 1968. He attended several local churches. Ray loved to sing gospel hymns and share his walk with Christ with others. He was a storyteller with a wonderful sense of humor who loved sharing times of his life growing up. Ray retired as a chemical operator from Dupont at Wurtland, KY. He was extremely close to his work brothers at both Ametek and Dupont. The family would like to express appreciation to caretaker Sheila Arnn and our father’s Hospice family (Tonya, Courtney, Mindy, Gracie, Tiffani, Jenna, Julie, and Jimm. We would also like to thank Dads VA nurses, Barb and Kathy. All provided wonderful care. Funeral services for Ray will be held 1:00 pm Monday, December 16, 2024 at Music Family Funeral Home with Chaplain Jimm Smedley and Brother Carl Collier officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, from 11:00 am to service time at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow services in the Collier Family Cemetery on W Hollow.
