Earl Ray Henry

Earl Ray Henry, 94, of Ashland, Kentucky, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 9, 2026, at his home. He was born Sunday, December 13, 1931, a son of the late Dave and Lula Belle Wells Henry. Earl retired as an overhead crane operator from Armco Steel after many years at the mill, and he and his wife, Lucille, spent their vacations at Myrtle Beach. He was a people watcher, always content to sit and take in the world. A lifelong sports fan, Earl followed the Ashland Tomcats and the Kentucky Wildcats, and family and friends knew him as "Mr. Tomcat." He was an Air Force veteran and a former Commander of Clarence Field American Legion Post #76. Earl loved country music, and in his later years he taught himself to play guitar. Most of all, he was a devoted caregiver to Lucille. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Lucille; six brothers, Woody, Don, Chester, Homer, Jess, and Leonard Henry; three sisters, Dorothy White, Bethel Boyd, and Estelle Riffe; and two sons-in-law, Jerry Bryant and Keith Back. Left to cherish Earl's memory are a son, Steve Henry (Joy) of Louisville, Kentucky; daughters, Pam Henry Back of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and Kim Faulkner of Ashland, Kentucky; grandchildren Ricky Faulkner (Casey), Steve Faulkner (Amy), Casey Henry Sandman (Michael), Laura Henry (Noelle), and Ashley Back Moses (Kenny); great-grandchildren Kayleigh, Blake, Hudson, Hannah, Camden, Luke, Brooks, Brynlee, Stella, Hank, Will, Micah, Charlotte, and one on the way; a special niece, Linda Chapman (Bill); good friend Lori Guthrie; and a host of extended family and friends. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM at Unity Baptist Church, with funeral services at 12:30 PM, Bro. Mark Renfroe officiating. Entombment will follow at Rose Hill Mausoleum. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mfhfuneralhome.com.
